What if Caroline wakes with amnesia and doesn’t know who she is? What if the only person that can give her that information is in New Orleans? Trust me, you won’t want to miss this inspired Drabble of the Week by the talented garglyswoof.
We open with Caroline waking up alone in a strange hotel room, unsure of just how she got there. Panicked by the situation, she consults her cell phone, desperately hoping to find some clues as to her identity.
Her first few attempts prove futile, and it is only when she scans through her phone to messages dating back to 2012 with a very telling unsent draft response – you said you were willing to wait, however long it takes – that draws Caroline to the one person she thinks can tell her about her past. Why not head down to New Orleans and find out? What has she got to lose? Who she finds and what she learns will open her eyes more than Caroline ever expected.
This drabble was an absolute delight to read from start to finish (that beautiful ending, especially, was a-ma-zing). Not only is the concept original, it is also an emotional journey that is wonderfully written with great characterization.
I cannot recommend this drabble enough (obviously). So, what are you waiting for? Get reading!
